Captivating scent of cassis, leather, currant jelly with a gentle recalling of toast; full-bodied on the tongue, supple, not without temperament and gently backed by charcoal notes; again a lot of backbone in the finish, with well-integrated tannins and notes of black pepper. A wine that reminded me of a steam locomotive with 6 to 8 years of further development potential and nice to strong meat dishes such as goulash, rabbit pepper or a intense roasted rump steak.

Balatonfüred-Csopak is one of the 22 Hungarian quality winegrowing areas designated according to the EU wine laws in 2001 with corresponding production specifications, named after the two main towns Csopak and Balatonfüred on the Lake Balaton’s eastern north shore.
