Flatters the palate:
2023 Côte de Lechet Chardonnay Appellation Chablis 1er Cru Controloée, Grand Vin de Bourgogne, 13%, from Domaine Fourrey: A nose that builds tension about what will come, with hints of compote of summer apples, bergamot, spring meadow underlaid with caramel; very supple body that flatters the palate, from which subtle salty notes emerge; characterful finish in which subtle mineral notes announce, which fade gently in white pepper – 91 red bonvinitas points (red = category 2, dry, above 12%)
The Domaine Fourrey
The 25-hectares wine estate has long been family-owned and is now run by Jean-Luc Fourrey. It is located in Milly, a small village bordering the famous wine town of Chablis. The Domaine complies with the PDB level 3 environmental requirements, the highest of the French Ministry of Agriculture. The soils are ploughed predominantly to reduce herbicides, which promotes the vitality of the vines and makes them more resistant to fungal attack. The realty in the Côte de Lechet 1er cru site covers 3.6 hectares in some plots. Chablis Grand Cru Valmur and other 1er Cru as well as Petit-Chablis are also offered.
