The original paintings by Bastian FialaThe original paintings by Bastian Fiala height="278" />Great art only belongs on the best red wines, or the best red wines demand great art—you can see it either way. In any case, the two have come together to truly enrich the wine scene: the Waldulm Winemakers' Cooperative and artist Bastian Fiala. The magnificent red wine edition, the original paintings, and many other works by Fiala were presented on May 24, 2024, during the well-attended vernissage, along with the international awards won by the label printing company, in the wooden cask and barrique cellar of the Waldulm Winemakers' Cooperative.

Tasting notes: On the nose, cassis with a slight peppery note, underlined by delicate herbal aromas and a hint of lovage; on the palate, a full-bodied, rich red wine, smoothly supported by red bell pepper spice and black pepper; a drop with international flair that lingers on the finish.

Georg Börsig, managing director of the wine cooperative: “We already knew Bastian Fiala well, as he had an exhibition with us in 2023. That sparked the idea for an edition with artist labels. We really liked both paintings, so this edition came about featuring our 2022 Waldulm Spätburgunder Red Wine Spätlese dry as a duo with two motifs. The edition is strictly limited to 996 double packs, and each bottle is individually numbered.”

Three international awards for Achertäler Printing’s label printing

The limited duo edition 'Bastian Fiala - Art meets Wine' The limited duo edition 'Bastian Fiala - Art meets Wine' Angelika Neumann from Achertäler Printing in Kappelrodeck proudly announced three recently won international awards at the FINAT Label Awards 2024, won with these labels: “As a small family business, we could hardly believe the news that came in quick succession two days ago: winner in the category ‘Combination Printing Processes,’ ‘Groupwinner of Printing Processes,’ and even ‘Best in Show.’ First place in all categories is equivalent to the title ‘European Champion.’ It is a major competition of the European Association of Self-Adhesive Labels Industry, in which many large international printing companies from 22 countries participated, held on May 22, 2024, in Athens.”

About the printing technique, the printing company explains: “The special feature was the reproduction of the original paintings, achieved over three passes: 3c Pantone, matte black, gloss black, rotary screen printing with neon orange to reproduce color application, gloss effects, and original colors used, relief embossing for partial reproduction of brush strokes and color application areas, relief gloss varnish for special parts of the painting (pupils, earrings, etc.).”

The Vernissage

Let the pictures, presented in parallel in the cellars of the Waldulm Wine Cooperative, speak for themselves — here is a selection:

The artist Bastian Fiala

The artist Bastian Fiala The artist Bastian Fiala Born in 1998, Bastian Fiala lives and works in Oberkirch in the Black Forest and has quickly made a name for himself in the art scene with his unmistakable artistic style.

At the age of 20, an unfortunate event turned out to be a blessing: he was dismissed from his job. Instead of being discouraged, he felt drawn to art and decided to follow his own path and his calling as an artist. Thus, the dismissal proved to be a catalyst for an unprecedentedly creative journey. From humble sketches, previously made secretly, now emerged large-format portraits full of expression and intensity. His first exhibition in his hometown was a success. Over 20 of his works found new owners, and the local art community welcomed him enthusiastically.

He then decided to present his art innovatively to a broader audience. With a unique pop-up gallery that appears briefly in various cities, he created a new platform for his art. Each exhibition became and continues to be an exclusive event for art lovers and critics alike. His paintings have already found their way into renowned collections in cities such as Berlin, Hamburg, Amsterdam, Zurich, and Johannesburg.
