2024 Burkheimer Crémant "HINGABE" brut, Burkheimer Winzer am Kaiserstuhl
Burkheimer Schlossgarten, Baden Sekt b.A., bottle fermentation, 12.5%, 10.50 €.
Very elegant fragrance, mouth-filling elegant mousseux on the tongue that results in an equally elegant finish. Very nice! Also to toast on occasions.
The Burkheim winegrowers are a community of around 35 winegrowing families who cultivate around 115 hectares on the southwestern edge of the Kaiserstuhl near France. The vines grow partly on loess and partly on volcanic soils. The focus is on Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris. Burkheim itself is a small, picturesque historic place worth seeing, which belongs to Vogtsburg.
Drinkably elegant
Gelderman Crémant Baden brut Geldermann Private Sparkling Wine Cellar, Breisach am Rhein
Traditional bottle fermentation, 12.5%, €13.95
A cuvée of Chardonnay, Black Riesling, Pinot Noir and Pinot Blanc
Nice and brood on the tongue!
And although Geldermann belongs to the large Rotkäppchen group, this winery is located in Breisach am Kaiserstuhl and offers a real Baden Crémant. Interesting cellar tours are also offered.
Good to drink:
2024 Auxerrois dry, Winery Josef Ambs Bötzingen
Quality wine Baden, Kaiserstuhl, Gutsfüll, 11%
I am always happy about good wines with little alcohol: When smelling into it, promising scent with hints of green apples; nice on the tongue, catchy with a dab of sweetness; full-bodied finish.
The Josef Ambs winery is a young winery, run by the brothers and master winemakers Andreas and Manuel Ambs on the outskirts of Bötzingen. Auxerrois is a white wine vine that is not frequently planted, which produces easily catchy not too heavy wines, a little of the Pinot Blanc type.
It's fun – more than just drinking:
2025 Auxerrois dry, bottler Peter Briem KG, Ihringen-Wasenweiler
Qualitätswein Baden, 12%, 11,50 €
Fresh fruit on the nose, hints of lemons; fresh on the palate, fruity; lots of fabric in the finish.
Full-bodied, subtly sweet:
Pinot Blanc and Sauvignon Blanc fine fruit, Bischoffinger Winzer eG,
Vogtsburg
Quality wine Baden, Kaiserstuhl region, 11%, 7,50 €
Subtle nose; on the palate delicately fruity, fresh, clean; finish with substance.
Beautiful quality
2023 Breisacher Eckartsberg Pinot Gris dry Badischer Winzerkeller, Breisach
Quality wine Baden, 13%
Deep fragrance with a stimulating earthy note; lots of fabric on the tongue, clean, equally stimulating; long mouth-filling finish.
I awarded bonvinitas points for the higher qualities, for this 91 red, category 2, dry, over 12%.
Entertaining
2023 'Famose Chose' Pinot Gris dry Weinhaus Bettina Schumann, Bahlingen
Quality wine Baden, 12,5%, 12,90 €
Fresh, slightly floral scent; catchy body with a nice edge; charming slightly floral finish.
To chew on with a lot of substance
2024 'The Gateway to the Kaiserstuhl' Old vine Pinot Gris dry, winegrowers'
cooperative Bischoffingen-Endingen am Kaiserstuhl
Endinger Vulkanfelsen, quality wine Baden, 13,5%, 8,50 €
Delicate scent - but very typical; lively on the palate with a small
floral greeting; nice finish to chew on. I rated it with 93 bonvinitas points.
Tells a lot
2025 Pinot Gris Ihringen Ortswein dry Gutsfüll Weingut Konstanzer, Ihringen
Quality wine Baden, 13%, 9,90 €
If you want to drink a wine that tells a lot about yourself: fruity depth on the nose; a lot of wine on the palate with floral undertones that condense in the finish to finish elegantly, which I have awarded 92 bonvinitas points.
The winery, run by Horst Konstanzer, mainly offers classic Burgundy varieties, as well as Silvaner, Muscat and Chardonnay.
Continues to grow until the finish
2023 Souvignier Gris VDP Ortswein Premium dry VDP Staatsweingut Blankenhornsberg, Ihringen
Quality wine Baden, Kaiserstuhl, 14.5%, in a 0.5 l returnable bottle, 22 €
Souvignier Gris is a newer so-called PIWI (fungus-resistant) variety that produces very good wines and is now established. The state winery on the Blankenhornsberg is also working on innovations in order to gain experience and make recommendations.
Mouth full of wine
2023 Bötzinger Pinot Blanc 'RESERVE' dry
Producer bottling Bötzinger eG
Quality wine Baden, 13,5%, 13 €
Wonderful Pinot Blanc scent, textbook case, hints of ripe apples; lush body, fills the palate,
with mineral notes; spreading full-bodied finish. I liked it exceptionally well and gave it 94 points.
Those who love it emphatically dry
2024 Pinot Blanc Oberrotweil Käsleberg dry Peter Strohm
Winery, Vogtsburg-Achkarren
Quality wine Baden, 12,5%, 12 €
Appealing fragrance; strong and full-bodied on the palate – clearly dry;
powerful finish.
Peter Strohm: "In all cellar work, the principle of deliberate idleness, coupled with attentive observation, and that good things have to take time."
Easy drinking
2025 Achkarrer Castellberg Pinot Blanc Kabientt dry Achkarr winegrowers on the Schlossberg
Prädikatswein Baden, 12.5%, 7.90
Nice scent of fresh apples; on the tongue an appealingly subtle delicate sweetness, which flows into a pronounced finish accompanied by the delicate sweetness.
As catchy as it is individual
2025 Ihringer Fohrenberg Pinot Blanc Kabinett semi-dry, Weingut Gerhard
Karle, Ihringen
Prädikatswein Baden Kaiserstuhl, 12%, 8,20 €
Very inviting fragrance; equally inviting body, subtly peppery; finish as catchy as it is distinctly individual.
Animating
2025 Rosé off-dry Johannes Weber Winery, Merdingen
Qualitätswein Baden, 12%, 7,50 €
Fine strawberry on the nose; on the tongue, sweetness as subtle as it is animating; which continues in the finish.
Having his own winery was Johannes Weber's dream, which he was able to realize after his master craftsman's examination. "Our winery embodies the love of nature as well as the joy of experimentation and youthfulness," is his credo, which is clearly reflected in the wine.
Full-bodied with mineral notes

2025 Eichstetter Rosé dry 'by m & b Schmidt' Producer bottling Friedrich Kiefer, Eichsteten
Quality wine Baden Kaiserstuhl, 12%, 8,50 €
Homely scent that puts you right in the middle of it; mouth-filling on the palate, nice and dry; expressive finish with mineral notes. I rated it with a remarkable 92 green bonvinitas points, green for dry wines up to only 12%.
The Friedrich Kiefer winery is a larger one of 16 hectares and very much up to date, as this lighter yet expressive rosé proves. "Light loess soils give us filigree wines, such as Pinot Blanc and Riesling. Loess soils with clay content tend to produce full-bodied, dense wines with a lot of melting, such as Pinot Gris. Volcanic weathered soils with a low loess clay layer bring us powerful, fiery wines, such as the Pinot Noir red wine," the presentation says.
A white autumn as it should be
2025 Pinot Noir Weißherbst 'Sonne' Producer bottling Kaiserstühler Winzer Ihringen eG
Quality wine Baden, 10%, 5 €
Strong flower, clearly strawberry; engaging body, subtle sweetness; finish to fall in love with.
Red wine full-bodied chubby
2025 Pinot Noir 'Edition SR' dry Producer bottling Stefan Rinklin, Bötzingen
Quality wine Baden, 12,5%, 9,50 €
Strong scent, jumps out at you, with notes of morello cherry; on the palate full-bodied, chubby, mouth-lining; persistent full-bodied finish, emphatically subtle tannins – nice if you don't like it peppery. I particularly liked the only 12.5%.
Stefan Rinklin is a committed winemaker who mainly cultivates Burgundy varieties.
Skilfully peppery
2023 Oberrotweiler Käsleberg Pinot Noir dry Producer bottling Weingut Peter Strohm, Vogtsburg-Achkarren
Quality wine Baden, 14%
Strong lively red wine scent with notes of morello cherry compote, a hint of cherry liqueur; full-bodied body, you literally fall into a fruity depth; a finish as a must, skillfully peppery – I liked it very much, and I rated it with 94 bonvinitas points. Unfortunately, the vintage is now sold out, but you can certainly bid the next one.
Peter Strohm is a young winemaker who mainly brings old vineyards back into very natural viticulture.
Lots of wine
2022 'Orchidea' Sasbacher Rote Halde Pinot Noir Red Wine Late Harvest dry, producer bottling Sasbacher Winzerkeller eG
Prädikatswein Baden, 14%. The 2023 vintage is on sale for €17.50.
Deep fragrance with hints of chocolate, oak, a hint of tar;
homely fullness with melting on the palate; lush finish – I awarded 93 bonvinitas points.
Cellar master Werner Giener with the 'Orchdea', of which he can be justifiably proud. 70 winegrowing families cultivate around 107 hectares, mainly on volcanic weathered as well as loess soils.
Animating
2022 'ménage à trois' Pinot Noir Producer bottling Weingut Heidi's Heaven, Vogtsburg-Oberbergen
Baden country wine, 13%, 19 €
Deep fragrance, notes of morello cherries, dark chocolate, a hint of roses; on the tongue full-bodied, fruity, animating; very pleasant finish, culminating in a hint of juniper. Beautiful drops, which I have rated with 93 bonvinitas points.
It is a small boutique winery winery founded in 2023, by Heidi Horsch and Julia Gut. "For people who want to taste authenticity in wine - clear, pure and personal," is the credo, and Heidi's enthusiasm for producing great wines can be felt. The drop really convinced me, so I rated it with 93 bonvinitas points.
